Job Description: Librarian Position Title : Librarian Department : Admin Location : EuroSchool HSR, Bangalore Reporting To : Vice - Principal Overview: EuroSchool HSR is seeking a dedicated and experienced Librarian to manage and oversee the operations of our school library. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature, strong organizational skills, and the ability to foster a love for reading and learning among students. Key Responsibilities: Library Management : Organize and maintain the library collection, ensuring it is up-to-date and relevant. Develop and implement library policies and procedures. Manage the library budget, including purchasing books, resources, and supplies. Maintain an orderly and welcoming environment in the library. Resource Acquisition and Cataloging : Select, acquire, and catalog new books, periodicals, multimedia resources, and other materials. Manage the library database, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records of all materials. Student and Staff Support : Assist students and staff in locating and selecting appropriate materials. Provide reference and research assistance to students and staff. Conduct library orientation sessions for new students and staff. Educational Programs and Activities : Plan and implement reading programs, book clubs, and other library-related activities. Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum. Organize author visits, book fairs, and other events to promote reading and literacy. Technology Integration : Manage and update the library’s digital resources and online catalog. Teach students and staff how to effectively use online databases and other digital resources. Stay current with emerging library technologies and incorporate them into the library’s offerings. Supervision and Training : Supervise library assistants and volunteers. Provide training and professional development opportunities for library staff. Community Engagement : Foster a love of reading and lifelong learning within the school community. Build partnerships with local libraries, bookstores, and literary organizations. Promote the library’s services and programs through newsletters, social media, and other communication channels. Qualifications: Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science. Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a librarian, preferably in a school setting. Skills : Strong organizational and management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in library management software and digital resources. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and the community. Passion for reading and promoting literacy. Additional Requirements: A strong understanding of child development and the ability to engage with children of all ages. Creativity in planning programs and activities to promote reading and literacy. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with library trends and technology.
